Stitch’s New Meet and Greet

Mar 19, 2018

Stitch has a new meeting location at Magic Kingdom, and frankly it’s about time! Trying to find everyone’s favorite trouble-making alien wandering around Tomorrowland was enough of a challenge, and then they pulled him out of the park entirely for a while. Now he’s back and making great use of some dead space at Magic Kingdom.

Stitch’s Great Escape is an attraction at Magic Kingdom that has been operating seasonally since 2016. During peak times like spring break, summer, and the holidays, the Tomorrowland attraction would open and then close again as soon as crowd levels died down. The only downside to this is that it eats up prime real estate in the park, but now Disney’s found use for the space. Experiment 626 is meeting in the queue!

I honestly haven’t been on Stitch’s Great Escape since I was fourteen. I detested it then, and I have never felt the need to experience it again. The chili cheese dog smell effect made me sick. However, I don’t need to have been on it to know how a show attraction works. There is a queue area, a preshow, and the actual attraction. By putting Stitch in the queue, they can utilize the space without changing anything with the actual attraction so they can still open it for the busy season. Since it’s all Stitch related, the themed character signs blend right in whether Stitch is out or not.

I went to see Stitch early one morning. I was in the park with Jay and our friend Doug while he was in town. The boys went to do a ride, and I went to check out the new character location. The line moved super quick even though Stitch was taking time to play with everyone. There were actually more people in line by themselves than there were families. The whole thing took about twenty minutes, and I have a feeling a lot of people are walking by without realizing their favorite alien friend is inside!

I am a tad bit disappointed, I was hoping he’d be wearing the orange jumpsuit like he does on the attraction, but that’s okay. He’s more huggable this way! I plan on going back to take Duffy in his Stitch outfit with Shellie May as Angel!

Are you going to go see Stitch the next time you’re at Magic Kingdom?
