Pirates Take Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Sep 18, 2018

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is my favorite event of the year. I’ve gone every year since my first year living in Orlando. Originally, I had wanted to rock my Wonder Woman costume that I wore to MegaCon earlier this year, but life had a different plan. Thankfully, my friend Polly has never let me down, and she made me an awesome new pirate skirt. Then, I actually sewed something for the first time in three years, and made a new mermaid pirate top!

As an added bonus, at the almost last minute, we found out my brother Robby would be joining us! He decided to come stay with us when Hurricane Florence shifted south to include where he lives. I’ve literally been wanting to take him to Mickey’s Not So Scary for the better part of five years, and I’m grateful I got the chance, even though I wish it was under better circumstances. This also led to him buying an annual pass, so you guys are going to be seeing more guest appearances from him on the blog! We managed to throw together a quick pirate outfit for him.

I did a full write up on Mickey’s Not So Scary last year, and most elements did not change, so I’m just going to cover the ones that did.

The actors in the queue for Pirates of the Caribbean were really fun. Gun Powder Pete himself in the ride was a little underwhelming. My breaking point was when he used a Jungle Cruise joke, and COMPLETELY missed the boat full of pirates. Seriously, he did not say a single word about any of us.

The lights at the teacups were pretty fun, even though we didn’t actually wait to ride. I just took pictures.

I never realized how much light is actually in Space Mountain before I rode it in pitch black. It was amazing, and a totally different ride experience. Unfortunately, I had to yell at the guy in the front of the rocket to turn his stupid light up necklace off.

Also new this year, we met Moana at the Tiki Room, and Stitch was in his usual meet and greet spot, but he was dressed as Elvis! This was super special to me and Robby, since Robby is the Stitch to my Lilo.

Plus, there’s a cool new Magic Shot by the Haunted Mansion! It’s a little strange that it’s the Hatbox Ghost, which is exclusive to Disneyland, but it’s awesome!
