It seems like every company has their own credit card these days, and Disney is no exception. Earlier this month, I posted a Mini Adventure about going to the Disney Visa Photo Spot at Epcot because, even though opening a new credit card just to meet Disney characters might sound silly, that’s exactly what I did. However, the Disney Rewards Visa does have some other cool benefits!
There are actually two levels for the Disney Rewards Visa. I’m talking specifically about the card I have, which is the basic Disney Rewards Visa. I’m sure the Premier Visa is awesome, but I haven’t tried it, so I’m not going to pretend I know how to talk about that.
Cash back rewards are nothing new, but only the Disney Rewards Visa lets you earn rewards specifically to spend at Disney. You can redeem them to pay for resort stays, theme park tickets, souvenirs, Disney Store purchases, the Disney Cruise Line, and even movie tickets. (Don’t use them for movie tickets. Get MoviePass and save your rewards for something else!) You earn 1% cash back rewards on everything you spend. This means you’re getting roughly $1 for every $100 you spend. It may not sound like much, but it sure beats getting nothing back for everything you spend.
If you’re not a Disney Annual Passholder, the Disney Rewards Visa is one of the only ways to save money on your in-park purchases. You get 10% off most purchases over $50 at most merchandise locations, and 10% off at certain dining locations! There’s also all sorts of experiences you can find at Walt Disney World that you also get discounts on. The last time I went for a horseback ride at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, there wasn’t a discount for Annual Passholders, but there was one for Disney Visa Card members!
Disney Rewards Visa Members also get special advance access to some Disney Store sales, and also when Disney on Broadway is touring. Plus, there’s a collectible Disney Pin that’s exclusive to Card Members, so that’s pretty awesome if you’re really into Pin Trading.
Honestly, the Disney Rewards card is not my go to card for everything. That’s my Discover card, and you can read about the benefits with that card in this post. However, the Disney Rewards card is great for specific uses, and if you frequent the parks, it does come in handy quite often.
Even if all you use it for is meeting characters. They have Disney Visa Photo Spots at Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and at Disneyland and California Adventure in California.
You can apply for your own Disney Rewards Visa here! Disclaimer: I earn rewards dollars if you sign up, but then you get a $200 statement credit after you spend $500 in your first three months!
