The Adventurers Club at Epcot

Nov 17, 2019

Once upon a time, there was a magical land called Pleasure Island. It was home to Walt Disney World’s less family friendly entertainment and night life. Sadly, I never got to experience Pleasure Island for myself. By the time I was old enough to enjoy it, it was gone. They say you can’t miss what you never had, but they’re wrong. I’d give anything to see the Adventurers Club in all its glory.

Set in the 1930s, the Adventurers Club was designed for travelers and explorers from all over the world. It didn’t matter if an African safari or a stroll around Epcot was more your speed, all were welcome here.

Sadly, the Adventurers Club closed its doors with the rest of Pleasure Island in 2008. The good news is there is one place you can still find the Adventurers Club, for one night a year. They are regular performers at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon’s Post Race Party.

The Wine and Dine Half Marathon is my second favorite RunDisney race. When Jay made the last-minute decision to run with me in 2017, it was because of the Post Race Party at Epcot. We could spend $80 on a ticket for him to go with me, or he could run the race and go with me for free. When I was doing this year’s registration, I just signed him up from the get go.

We caught part of the Adventurers Club’s first set, but we were in the back because we walked up late after meeting Mushu. As soon as the first set ended, we snagged a front and center seat. Then we spent the rest of the night sitting in Morocco. I got full video of the second two shows.

It’s not my greatest camera work because I was laughing too hard. Next year I’ll take a tripod!

The Adventurers Club was also out on the course in the morning for photos, and they almost never have much of a line.

I’m not saying you should run the Wine and Dine Half Marathon just for the Adventurers Club, but that’s why we run the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

Moving to Orlando in 2013 to join the Disney College Program was the start of the Great Florida Adventure for Chelsea and her best friend Duffy Bear. Now they spend their days exploring all there is to do in the Orlando area and seeing what adventures life where the rest of the world vacations brings.
