Give Kids the World Challenge for Hope Fundraising

Aug 28, 2018

Twenty Something in Orlando is all about life where the rest of the world vacations. We get to live in this amazing place where people travel to make life long memories with their loved ones. However, the sad reality is that some of the people visiting here aren’t on a typical vacation. They’re here to try to enjoy some precious moments and time together, as they are uncertain of what the future holds for their family.

The Give Kids The World Village is based in Orlando, and provides cost-free vacations to children and their families battling critical illnesses. The Village is an all-inclusive resort, where children can go to try to create happiness and hope, when these families need it most.

When a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, their family’s life become full of unexpected and unpredictable challenges, from doctor appointments to hospital stays, and medical treatments, but for one week, children and families have the chance to laugh, play and simply spend time together – both at the Village and at Central Florida’s world-class theme parks and attractions.

Give Kids The World Village becomes a home-away-from-home during their once-in-a-lifetime trip, and it doesn’t cost the families a cent.

Last year, I ran the Give Kids The World Challenge for Hope 5K, and it was the first time in my life I’ve felt like the race I was running mattered, and I’ve got seventeen different medals. I felt like I was doing something to help these kids. There was also a Puppy Play Zone at the finish line, which makes it one of my favorite races ever.

Now I’m running again, and Jay is getting dragged along with me. I’ve also talked my mother into running her first 5k! We might even take Duffy, depending on how hot it is, but we need your help!

Twenty Something in Orlando has a fundraising goal of $500, but we’d like to meet that and beyond. Every donation will be acknowledged and thanked on our social media, and every public donation will be listed in the article written about the race. You can also donate to my personal fundraising instead of the team’s if you choose.

If we reach $250 in donations, I’ll host a poll so you guys can vote on what costumes we wear for the race.

If we reach $500 in donations, we’ll take our medals to Disney to show Mickey.

If we reach $1,000 in donations, we’ll livestream the race.

If we reach $2,000 in donations, we’ll have the biggest giveaway the blog has ever had, and only people who donated will be eligible. (Sadly, anonymous donors will be ineligible so let us know you donated!)

Thank you for supporting us and the brave children who visit Give Kids The World.

Moving to Orlando in 2013 to join the Disney College Program was the start of the Great Florida Adventure for Chelsea and her best friend Duffy Bear. Now they spend their days exploring all there is to do in the Orlando area and seeing what adventures life where the rest of the world vacations brings.
