Frugal Friday is all about helping you make the most of your money, so you can save more for your next adventure! Today I’m going to talk about Ebates, which is an awesome online rebate system that gives you cash back on stuff you were going to buy anyway!
Ebates is completely free. All you have to do is sign up and you can instantly start earning cashback on online purchases. There are two ways to earn cash back with Ebates. The first way is to go to the Ebates site in order to start a “Shopping Trip” by looking up the site you’re shopping on. You follow that link to the site you want to shop and it’ll automatically add the cash back to your account.
The second way is to install the Ebates extension on Google Chrome, and a little Ebates logo will appear in the corner of your screen. It’ll flash at you every time you’re on a website that qualifies for cash back. All you have to do is click on it before you place your order and it’ll automatically start your “Shopping Trip” for you! Then poof, instant cash back!
For certain stores, you can even link your debit card to Ebates, for in-store cash back so it won’t matter if you’re buying online or in person. Sephora just started offering this, and let me tell you that is extremely dangerous for my wallet!
The cash back amounts are small, usually anywhere from 1%-10%. That may not sound like much, and it’s not on each individual purchase, but it adds up quick! I’ve made over $90 in cash back in the last few months! Just from clicking a button before I place my order! Why would you not? It’s literally free money.
Ebates has two ways of paying out. They can send you, and I’m quoting here, “a big fat check” which comes in the mail or you can redeem an “e-gift card” for certain stores. My last payout was roughly $19 so I could get a check for $19, or a Sephore e-gift card for $21, or a Petco gift card for $25. I went with Sephora. They boost the e-gift cards because it saves them the postage and labor of sending an actual check.
(Normally I would have picked Petco since it was a higher dollar amount, but since all our pet food gets delivered through Chewy.com, I’d rather have Sephora. Free make-up? I am totally in.)
You can sign up for Ebates here. If you sign up, I do make money for referring you, but you also get an instant $10 gift card. Like I said, it’s literally free money, and you get to support Twenty Something in Orlando! Win-win! So what are you waiting for?
