Frugal Friday: Dollar Shave

Jul 27, 2018

If I could just get all my groceries delivered to my house on a weekly basis, that would be fantastic. Then I could never get home from the store, and realize I forgot something. Sadly, I live outside the delivery ranges for most stores, and for some reason Capri Suns are really expensive from Amazon. There is one great subscription service we use though, and that’s Dollar Shave.

I do most, if not all, the grocery shopping in my household. I look for sales and try to use the coupons my mom sends me. However, seeing as I don’t use the same kinds of razors Jay does, I would never remember to buy them. With Dollar Shave, a kit shows up once a month with new razor blades, and I am off the hook for remembering if he needs them or not. Since he has to shave pretty much daily for work, this works out really well.

When you join Dollar Shave, they send you a starter kit based on the plan you choose. It comes with a razor handle, and four sets of blades to get you through the first month. The next month, four refill cartridges show up with no handle. You can always order a new handle if you need one, but the idea is you just reuse the same one. It’s good for the environment, and good for your wallet.

Dollar Shave has a few different plans and different things you can add, like shaving cream and lotion. Jay has the $6 option that is literally just the razor blades, but they’re a mid-grade quality and it includes shipping. Well worth the price of never having to worry if he’s out or not.

You can join Dollar Shave here, and Jay will get a $5 credit towards his next box. They also have razors that are supposedly great for women, but I’m better at finding those in store with coupons, so I can’t vouch for them. However, I highly recommend this for guys, especially if you work in an industry where you have to shave daily like Jay does.
