#CastCompliment: Thanking Cast Members

Sep 4, 2018

It happens all the time. Some great Cast member made your day, either with a Magical Moment or just generally being awesome, and you want to recognize them for it. Then you get to the end of the night, you’re tired and you’re ready to go home, and the line at Guest Relations is out the door. So, you leave without getting to recognize the Cast Member and tell yourself you’ll write in later.

If you’re like me, you mean well, but sometimes you forget.

Thankfully, Disney has come up to a solution to this, and now recognizing a Cast Member has become the easiest thing in the world. You just need a Twitter account!

#CastCompliment is a quick, simple way to recognize any Cast Member, no matter where they work, or the time of day! Simply post a Tweet with the Cast Member’s name and location where you encountered them with #CastCompliment. Their hometown helps too, if you remember it. At one point in time, we had seven Ashleys working at the Jungle Cruise, so narrowing it down got tricky sometimes. Any defining feature works really. There was some debate one day over which Matt a Tweet was for, until someone pointed out it specifically said, “Short Matt”. We had three Matts, but two of them were over six feet tall.

You can also tag @WDWToday in the Tweet, since they’re the social media team that handles all the Cast Compliments. To be perfectly honest, I forget to include #CastCompliment half the time, but I remember to tag @WDWToday, so it gets to them anyway.

What happens when a Cast Member gets a Cast Compliment? The social media team will go find that Cast Member the next time they’re working with a print out of your Tweet. They then take the Cast Member’s picture with the print out to reply back to you, and the Cast Member gets to keep the print out as a souvenir.

So, the next time a Cast Member gives you that Pixie Dust feeling, just remember thanking them is super easy-all you have to do is Tweet!
